Objective
Get rid of all your cards. The last player holding cards becomes the Shed — the loser.
Setup
- For games of 3-6 players, each player starts with 3 face-down cards (you may not look at these), 3 face-up cards placed on top of them, and 3 cards to keep in hand.
- For a 2-player game, the same rules apply, but each player starts with 4 face-down and 4 face-up cards instead of 3.
- The player holding the lowest card (starting from 3) goes first. Ties for cards of the same rank are broken alphabetically. Black cards go before red. If two cards are the same rank and color, ties are further broken alphabetically by suit. (ex. clubs go before spades)
Taking Your Turn
- Play one or more cards of the same rank onto the pile. The rank must be equal to or higher than the top card of the pile (unless a 7 is played - see Special Cards below).
- If you cannot play, you must pick up the entire pile and add it to your hand.
- After playing from your hand, draw back up to 3 cards while the draw pile lasts.
Phases of Play
You must exhaust each phase before moving to the next:
- Hand — play from the cards in your hand.
- Face-Up — once your hand is empty, play your face-up cards.
- Face-Down — flip one card at a time. If it plays, great. If not, pick up the pile and the flipped card.
Special Cards
| Card | Effect |
| 2 | Wild — can be played on any card. Resets the pile; next player can play anything. |
| 7 | Low cap — the next player must play a 7 or lower. |
| 8 | Skip — skips the next player. |
| 10 | Wild + Burn — can be played on any card and clears the entire pile immediately. The same player plays again. |
| Joker | Reversal — reverses the direction of play. Always playable on any card. Any card can also be played on the Joker. (6-player games only) |
Four of a Kind Burn
If the top four cards of the pile share the same rank — whether played at once or built up over multiple turns — the pile burns automatically. The player who burned it plays again.
